Kenshikai Bo Kata #1

1. As you step forward with right leg into zenkutsu-dachi, sweep bow low (across from right to left),then back across in front of you and into low right strike to opponent's left knee.

2. Left leg forward into zenkutsu-dachi, reverse low strike to opponent's right knee.

3. Twirl back end of bo forward and up into groin strike, continue twirling bo in same direction into strike under chin.

4. Reverse strike across face (left to right), bring bo, extended straight behind as left open hand rests infront on hip area (belt height) in kiba-dachi.

5. Right leg steps forward (into kiba-dachi) and strike across middle, then jodan-tsuki to front.

6. Left leg forward into zenkutsu-dachi and low strike to opponent's right knee.

7. Right leg forward and reverse low strike to opponent's left knee.

8. Twirl back end of bo forward and up into groin strike, continue twirling bo in same direction into strike under chin.

9. Reverse strike across face (right to left), bring bo, extended straight behind, as right open hand rests in front on hip area (belt height) in kiba-dachi.

10. Left leg steps forward (into kiba-dachi) and strike across middle, then jodan-tsuki to front.

11. Keeping left leg in front, sweep bo back to extending straight back behind. As right leg steps forward swing bo across and up to front, then around again to face area. As you turn around (left leg comes forward as you turn and becomes the back leg), right low strike; front tip of bo finishes touching ground.

12. Turn opposite direction (feet stay where they are) into zenkutsu-dachi and jodan-tsuki (gyaku- shinsei).

13. Right leg slides forward to nearly meet left leg, turn by stepping straight back with left leg as you let goof bo with left hand. Bo comes over right side (right elbow extended out as fulcrum for bo), downward strike to opponent's haisoku. You should be holding bo in right hand, by its tip. Left leg should be in front in zenkutsu-dachi.

14. Flip bo and catch it with both hands (left hand in front in shinsei) then jodan-tsuki with KIAI!

15. Right leg step forward zenkutsu-dachi, low right strike to opponent's left knee.

16. Left leg step forward into zenkutsu-dachi, low left strike to opponent's left knee.

17. Right leg step forward into zenkutsu-dachi, reverse low strike to opponent's left knee.

18. Turn (keep left where it is) in zenkutsu-dachi, gyaku- shinsei, jodan-tsuki.

19. Let goof bo with right hand, twirl bo forward over left haito, then stop twirl quickly with left hand on top of bo in modified shinsei.

20. Jodan-tsuki with KIAI!
